Standfast yachts: The essence of
sailing
The
joy of sailing is the main objective at Standfast
Yachts. For each yacht much attention is paid to the
sailing- and handling performance at sea. Next to
this, Standfast Yachts always stresses on simplicity
of the concept. It is found that pleasure and safety
largely depend on the reliability of systems and
equipment. To attain a high level of reliability,
unnecessary machinery and equipment and the
complexity and maintenance they bring with them have
to be avoided.
A further benefit of this concept is
that overall weight is kept to a minimum, which
brings us back to the performance, as weight is one
of the more important factors for the performance of
the yacht. In general, the less weight, the better
the performance.
The main construction method used at
Standfast yachts is fibre reinforced plastic, either
with polyester or with epoxy resin and with all
kinds of fibres. Combined with the sandwich method
and vacuum bag method, a very strong, stiff, light
and durable construction arises, which also is
efficient and environment friendly in the building
process.
